Best of 2024 Wedding Photography and Films | The Joy of Scottish weddings and the laughs and tears along the way
It’s that time of year again. The yearly round-up. The ‘Best of’. It’s partially a way to say thankyou to all the amazing couples that have trusted me with their wedding memories this year and to give them another wee shot in the limelight ;-) And it’s also partly an insight for future couples to see what makes me tick, and discover why they might like to choose me as their own photographer or film maker. But please feel free to bypass my ramblings if you wish, and skip through to enjoy all the funky pictures - that’s what brings you here after all! :-D
I’ve never really liked the term ‘Best of’, because, as with all things artistic, “best” is subjective. So many moments happen during a wedding celebration and each of these captured moments mean different things to different people. Aging loved ones; quiet moments; raucous celebrations; elegant wedding attire; beautiful landscapes; people picking their nose at the wrong time. Each person will have their own, different emotional reaction to a particular image so who am I to say which are the best? These collections are simply to give a snapshot of my life as a wedding photographer in Scotland. I just try to curate a set of images that I think are cool. To tell a kind of story about the things that I observe at weddings and elopements and all the things that I capture. But let’s not beat about the bush - this is also a wee chance for me to show off! To give a little sprinkle of what I can bring to occasion in terms of photographic creativity, to give your photos a little POP! :-)
I really love what I do - I get a snapshot into how other couples live their lives, what’s important to them and how they choose to express themselves on a momentous occasion. The things I look for in my images are humour, spontaneity, action, atmosphere, colour, life and emotion.. EMOTION. It's the driving force behind weddings. For all the fancy, fun experiences and cool stuff you book for your wedding, the essence of the whole thing is emotion. Tears; laughter; elation; sadness; excitement; the whole shebang. It's all churned in there somewhere and it's what makes weddings a beautiful thing. And that's why I'm there :-)
As always, my one overriding piece of advice is simple: enjoy it! Let go of any pressure, let the moments happen, and trust that I’ll be there to capture them
So if you harbour a wee sense of adventure and are marrying in Scotland or choosing to elope to here; whether it be a traditional Scottish castle, a rugged cliffside ceremony, or an intimate elopement in the Highlands - and you’re looking for alternative, cinematic-style images with a natural creative edge I’d love to chat with you about your wedding plans and see what I can do for you.
