Carlowrie Castle | Wedding Photography | Roberta + Yiorgos
Believe it or not, in all my years of photographing weddings, this was my first visit to Carlowrie Castle, just outside Edinburgh. And it was worth the wait! The rustic grounds yet modern interior was the perfect compliment to Roberta and Yiorgos’ beautifully classic wedding; observing tradition, yet with all the fun, emotion, laughter and spontaneity that I so love about modern weddings. I mean, when you get pelted in the face with rice and have enough left over in your eyelashes for a small meal, that’s fun AND traditional, right? ;-D
With Greek, Italian and Scottish family and friends in attendance they obviously brought out the best in the infamous Scottish weather and we enjoyed a really dry day on the whole and even some beautiful evening sun. The couple themselves were consummate professionals in front of the camera. During the couple shoot, I kept commenting how natural and relaxed they were at this photography shiz, and Yiorgos said something along the lines of - it’s being around other people that creates the hustle and bustle and nerves; when we are alone together, those are the moments we are totally at ease… such a sweet sentiment - put a wee lump in my throat!
If you’d like to see another take on such a lovely wedding day, please feel free to check out their Highlight Film - there is fun and there are tears and there are twirls :-D
